CORE Volunteer Program (CORE-VP)

The Campus Organizations Resources and Education Volunteer Program (CORE VP) provides volunteers the opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills and interact with the over 600 campus organizations.

CORE VP participants work directly with the CORE Consultants to help coordinate quarterly workshops, assist with the planning for traditional events like the Anteater Awards, and initiate a new project to support the registered campus organizations.  CORE VP participants will gain valuable skills such as event planning, marketing, and learn how to work both independently and dependently with a team.

CORE VP specific assignments include the coordination of 'Swag Corey Out' with the department's social media and Ring Road Round-Up to promote organizations selling food, along with attending registered campus organizations' meetings and events, blogging about an organization's event, and more.  Volunteers will also participate in monthly workshops to assist with their own leadership development and academic success.

What you will learn:

  • Participants in the CORE VP will develop an intervention to assist an organization in reaching their goal(s).
  • Participants in the CORE VP will identify at least three necessary resources to implement a campus-wide event.
  • Participants in the CORE VP will improve their leadership skills and develop a strategy to pursue a future leadership position.

Volunteers can receive winter quarter course credit for their participation.  The time commitment is 3-5 hours/week.  At times, depending on the project, you will volunteer weeknights.  For additional information, email
